Woman spat on in alleged domestic incident in Huddersfield

The 23-year-old female victim was arguing with a man in New Street near the Post Office and Home Bargains stores at around 1pm on Monday June 22 when it is alleged that he has grabbed her and spat in her face.

A man stopped to help her and ask if she was okay.

He was described as white, aged between 30-40-years-old. He was riding a bike and wearing a dark t-shirt and dark tracksuit bottoms and a dark baseball cap.

The victim started to walk away but was then pursued by a suspect, before another member of the public intervened.

She is described as aged around 30-years-old, approximately 5ft 8ins tall, with light ginger hair in a ponytail and a freckly complexion. She was wearing a black jacket and black trousers.

PC Nicola Thomson, of Kirklees Adult Safeguarding Unit, said: “We are keen to trace both the man and woman who have separately stopped to help the victim and check on her welfare. I would urge them to make contact with us.

“We are also interested in hearing from anyone else who has witnessed this incident which occurred during the early afternoon in one of the main shopping streets of Huddersfield.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Kirklees Adult Safeguarding Unit via 101.”

A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with this incident. He has been interviewed and released on bail.
