Victim taken to hospital after being attacked outside Dewsbury train station

Police are investigating reports of a serious assault at Dewsbury Railway Station.

British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the station at just after 8pm on Monday and a scene was cordoned off.

Local reports claimed that a man was attacked by two masked thugs armed with baseball bats but that has not been confirmed.

In a statement a spokesman for BTP said officers were called following "reports of a serious assault."

The statement added: "Paramedics also attended and a man was taken to a local hospital. His injuries are not deemed to be life-changing or life-threatening."
