Police are not treating the death as suspicious and do not believe anyone else was involved.

A spokesperson for the IPCC said they had received the referral this morning and will make an assessment to see if they need to be involved.

Detective Chief Inspector Darren Minton said: “The body has not yet been formally identified but it is believed to be that of a 34-year-old man who was reported missing from his home in Halifax at 10.56am today. No one else is being sought in connection with the death.

“The man reported missing had been arrested on Wednesday, July 2, in connection with an investigation in to the production of indecent images and released from custody at 1.15pm that day. Due to the previous contact the man had with police, the matter will be referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.”
