Teen appears in court over death of Bradley Gledhill in Batley after being the fifth person to be charged with murder

A 16-year-old boy has appeared before Leeds Crown Court charged with murder over the death of Bradley Gledhill in Batley.

The teenager is the fifth person to be charged with the murder over the incident on Park Croft on Sunday June 21.

The youth appeared in court via a video link from secure accommodation for the brief hearing.

He is also charged with two offences of attempted murder.

Mr Gledhill, 20, was stabbed during a fight at around 10.30pm on Sunday, June 21.

He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Two other males also suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.

None of the charges were put to the defendant.

A plea and trial preparation hearing is due to be held for all defendants in the case on Thursday.

A provisional trial date has been set for November 7 this year.

The court heard today that a sixth person is likely to face charges over the incident.

The teenager was remanded into secure accommodation until Thursday's hearing.

Ahmed Karolia, 23, Usman Karolia, 19, both of Lime Tree Avenue, Batley, Raja Nawaz, 18, of Longfield Road, Heckmondwike, and a 17-year-old male, who cannot be identified, are also charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder.
