Police name man killed by lorry on A650 in Wakefield

Police have named a man who was killed after being hit by a lorry.

Mohammed Ashfaq, 53, from Batley, died after he was invloved in a collision in Wakefield.

Emergency services were called to the A650 close to the junction with Kenmore Road at about 4.10pm on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr Ashfaq was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police closed the stretch of dual carriageway between the Vine Tree roundabout and Carr Gate, close to junction 41.

Sgt Ann Drury of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: “Enquiries are ongoing into this incident and we are appealing for any witnesses to the collision itself. We would also like to speak with anyone who saw the man or the lorry just prior to the collision.

“I would ask any witnesses who can assist our enquiries to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101.”
