Police make shocking discovery in Birstall after children found travelling unsafely car

Police officers have described a the moment they made a shocking discovery in car that was stopped in Birstall.

West Yorkshire Roads Policing Unit stopped the vehicle in Birstall on January 27.

Officers found it was showing it no tax since March 2019.

But what police found later was what really shocked them.

Posting on Twitter the unit said: "Upon speaking to the driver it became clear that the children in the vehicle were not safely strapped in at all.

The three-year-old in the front seat had no child seat and only the lap portion of the belt on and the one-year-old in the rear was in a baby seat but that was not secured by a seatbelt.

"The vehicle was not registered and the driver was not on the insurance policy."
