Pair arrested after Heckmondwike car chase outside police station

A driver and passenger were arrested by police after a car chase through Heckmondwike.

Officers from the Batley and Spen Neighbourhood Policing team were sat at a red light when a VW Golf jumped a red light on the wrong side of the road at speed.

Officers quickly followed the vehicle, which failed to stop.

After a short pursuit around the Heckmondwike area, including passing the police station not once but twice, the driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle.

They ran into the wooded area on Dale Lane.

With the assistance of West Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit, NPAS (National Police Air Service), dog unit and other NPT colleagues, the area was quickly surrounded and both were detained within minutes.

The pair were arrested for dangerous driving, possession of a controlled substance and driving while under the influence of drugs.
