Kirklees police keen to trace motorist who helped elderly man after fall

Police are trying to trace a motorist who helped an elderly man after he fell in the street.

The elderly man, who was in his 70s, was injured when he fell in Fixby, near Brighouse, at around 5.30pm on Tuesday, February 2.

Police said he was found dead at his home the following day.

A driver stopped to help the old man after the fall in Netheroyd Hill Road or Lightridge Road, West Yorkshire Police said.

A police spokesman said: “He was sadly found deceased at his home the following day.

“The driver is described as a white man, of athletic build with a bald head and possibly in his mid-thirties.

“He was driving a white car and was casually, but smartly dressed.”

Anybody who can help is asked to call Detective Constable 1641 Shaun Topham, of Kirklees CID, on 101.

DC Topham added: “It is possible this man has died as a result of the injuries he suffered in the fall, but we would like to speak to the driver to see if he has any more information.”
