A greyhound trainer was robbed by three men with baseball bats.

The man was driving close to Mirfield along Liley Lane, Grange Moor, at around 5.30am on Thursday January 16. He was on his way to Hollyhead to catch a ferry to Ireland with a large amount of cash.

A dark coloured Volkswagen Golf overtook his car and stopped in front of him.

Three men got out and demanded he leave his car and give them the money.

The victim got out as one of the men searched his car. They took the money, some clothing, a mobile phone and the keys before they drove off in the Golf towards Kirkheaton.

Two of the men officers want to speak to are described as white. A third is black. All three men were wearing dark clothing with their hoods up and scarves covering the lower part of their faces.

DC Richard Brooke of Huddersfield CID said: “This would appear to be a targeted attack.

“The victim had been to greyhound stadiums in South Yorkshire before the incident and mentioned to people that he was going to Ireland to buy two dogs for a substantial amount of money.

“I would appeal for anyone with information about this incident to contact me on 101 or CrimeStoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.”
