House burglars dumped a stolen car in Ravensthorpe after changing the registration plates.

Three people broke in through the door of a house in the Thornton Lodge area of Huddersfield at around 5pm on Wednesday.

They were seen driving off in a silver Honda Civic, which was found later in Calder Road.

Det Insp Andy Parr said the plates were KL08 PCU originally, but had been changed by the time the car was abandoned.

“The vehicle has apparently changed its number plate on the route at least once,” he said.

“We’re looking for witness who saw a silver Honda Civic at any time after 5pm that day.”

One of the men was described as white, 35 years old and 5ft 6in. He wore a grey fleece-type jumper, black bottoms and a black hat with a peak.

A second man wearing the same outfit was described as white, aged 30 to 35 years old and 5ft 4in.

Police believe the men may have been wearing uniforms of some sort.
