Batley man and teenager remanded to Leeds Crown Court for alleged murder of Birstall man

A Batley man and a teenager have been remanded in custody to appear before a crown court after being charged with the murder of a Birstall man in Huddersfield.

Kiyran Earnshaw, 18 and a 15-year-old youth who cannot be named for legal reasons both appeared before Leeds Magistrates Court today (January 20) charged with the murder of Robert Wilson, 53 in an incident in Linthwaite on January 16.

Earnshaw, Field Lane, Batley, was also charged with two offences of possession of a bladed article and Section 18 assault, while the 15-year-old also appeared charged with an offence of possession of a bladed article.

Both were remanded in custody to appear before Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday January 22.

West Yorkshire Police would ask members of the public not to speculate on social media on the events of January 16 in order to avoid prejudicing forthcoming court proceedings.
