Armed police and dog unit chase down driver in Birstall woods

A man has been arrested after he tried to evade capture from armed police officers and the dog unit in Birstall.

The Land Rover was spotted in the Birstall area on the evening of March 26.

The vehicle failed to stop for firearms officers and after a short pursuit the driver dumped the car and fled into nearby woods.

Officers from the Batley and Spen Neighbourhhod Policing Team attended the scene to contain the area.

This allowed time for the police dog unit to attend and conduct an extensive search.

After nearly an hour the driver was located hiding in a beck.

He has since been arrested for dangerous driving and no insurance
