Armed masked burglars break into Dewsbury house

Two masked men broke into a Dewsbury house armed with a metal bar and left a man in hospital.

The incident happened on Leeds Road on Friday night between 10pm - 10.15pm as a man and woman in their 20’s were sat in the living room.

The suspects kicked the front door down and after a brief struggle with the male occupant they fled from the scene.

During the fight, the man suffered a injury to his hand, believed to have been caused by the metal bar, and remains in hospital

One of the suspects is described as being in his early 20s, 6ft tall and was wearing a face mask with a skull on it.

The second suspect is described as having short dark hair, six feet tall and was wearing a dark face mask and was believed to be armed with a knife.

They were seen leaving the scene in a dark coloured VW car.

When police officers arrived at the scene they found a small number of cannabis plants in the premises.

Enquiries are still ongoing.
