Cricket match fund-raiser in Ben’s memory is a massive hit

Keen sportsman Ben Morley, who from the age of nine played rugby for Batley Boys, died unexpectedly in July 2006 at his home in Cleckheaton, aged 23.

Since then, everyone who knew Ben battles it out on the cricket field to raise money for Martin House Hospice, which supports children with debilitating conditions.

The cricket match,which was played on Sunday at Cross Bank Methodist Cricket Club on Bradford Road, raised more than £1,600.

As well as a few games, there was a tombola, raffle and bouncy castle, which kept the younger spectators entertained.

The amount brings to total of funds raised so far in Ben’s name to over £25,000.
