Councillor denies tax vote charge
A former Mayor of Kirklees has denied breaking local government rules.
Coun Jean Calvert (Lab, Ashbrow) is accused of voting in a council budget meeting while in arrears with her own council tax.
Calvert, of Sheepbridge Road, Sheepbridge, appeared before Bradford Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Thursday) to deny the two charges, relating to two separate Kirklees Council votes.
Calvert, 58, will appear before Bradford magistrates on October 22 for a one-day trial.
