Cleckheaton school children attacked

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attacked, which happened at 8.30am on October 23, in the ginnel between Tofts Road (past the old Whitcliffe Hotel) and Peasland Road.

The victims were approached by the two male suspects and the first victim was punched in the stomach, causing him to fall over. The second victim attempted to fight back and was also assaulted before the two suspects ran away towards Cleckheaton.

During the incident one of the victims lost his wallet and when he came to retrieve it a small amount of money had been taken.

The first suspect was wearing a plain black hooded top, his face was covered with what looked like a balaclava but may just have been his jumper, grey jogging bottoms and black Adidas trainers with a thin purple line round the sole. He was about 5ft 8ins tall, of average build and around 20 years old.

The second suspect was wearing jogging bottoms and had purple blending into black trainers and possibly a navy puffer jacket. He was about 5ft 7ins tall, was thin and lean in build, with the lower part of his face covered and a visible nose piercing to the left side. He was also about 20 years old.

PC Chris Birkenshaw of Batley and Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “These young victims suffered an unprovoked attack, in broad daylight, on their way to school. If anyone has any information or witness people fitting these descriptions in the area, please contact Batley and Spen NPT on 101.”
