Charity Kane-oeing

The district’s mayor paddled, navigated and got wet to raise hundreds of pounds for charity.

Coun Paul Kane, the Mayor of Kirklees, took part in the dragon boat race with his Mayors Marauders team.

The event raised £2,450 through sponsorship for charity Diabetes UK.

Coun Kane said: “It was a fantastic day for all and I am delighted that we were able to raise this money for Diabetes UK, and would like to thank all our sponsors for making it possible.”

Businesses including PSG, Howard Cook Developments and Barclays all donated cash towards the fund.
