Charity is a piece of cake!

Each year the charity asks groups to back its World’s Biggest Coffee Morning fundraiser which is taking place this Friday, September 28.

In Dewsbury Barclays bank will be serving tea, coffee and treats and hosting a raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses.

Last year the bank raised £350, but hopes to top that this year with the backing of Dewsbury and Mirfield MP Simon Reevell. The event will run from 9am-noon at the branch in Market Place.

Meanwhile Earlsheaton Infant School, in Commercial Street, Earlsheaton, is asking people to make a donation in exchange for a morning of tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits. Pupils will also be donating £1 to wear green clothes to school on the day. The coffee morning is from 9.45am to 11.45am.

And the ladies at Dewsbury and District Women’s Health Group will be serving up home-made buns at their centre in Wellington Street, Dewsbury, from 10.30am- 3pm.

Chairwoman Margaret Watson said the event was not just about raising money for the Macmillan Nurses but to draw attention to the valuable work they do.

Admission is free.

In Mirfield St Andrew’s Methodist Church, in Old Bank Road, is hosting a coffee morning from 9am and Kirklees College, in Halifax Road, Dewsbury, will be welcoming people from 9.30am.
