Children from Westborough High School raised £240 for the Reporter Series Fund with a sponsored walk.

Around 200 year seven pupils from the school were joined by park wardens and mascots from Huddersfield Town FC and Batley Bulldogs for the fundraiser in July.

They were given one hour to complete as many laps of Crow Nest Park as possible. Each pupil had been encouraged to get sponsorship from family and friends.

Extended learning co-ordinator Gayna Goalby said: “It’s important that we support local charities as well as the bigger ones like Children in Need.

“This helps a child become a whole person and learn about the other areas of the community they live in. It’s important to give to those parts of the community.”

More than £4,000 has been raised for the Reporter Series Fund so far. The cash will be split equally between our four chosen charities at the end of the year.
