Cash pledged to support violence victims

£1m has been pledged to help victims of domestic violence in West Yokrshire.

Police and Crime Commissioner Mark Burns-Williamson announced the funding during a national week of action. On average, there is 100 domestic abuse reports every day across West Yorkshire.

The cash will be used by councils and community safety partners to reduce offending and support victims of domestic violence and serious sexual offences.

Mr Burns-Williamson said: “Because of its seriousness and the implications it can have for victims’ and children’s health and wellbeing, protecting those in most danger is rightly the focus for those involved in policing, community safety and health.”
