It is asking people receiving their Winter Fuel payments, who feel they don’t need them, to consider donating their payments.

The money can then be distributed to individuals across Kirklees facing difficulties this winter.

Over the last two years, the Foundation has distributed funds to individuals and groups across Kirklees in partnership with Age UK.

Organisations that have benefited previously have included individuals, old people’s services, luncheon clubs and social groups.

Paul Johnson from One Community said: “Last winter in Kirklees was not extremely cold in the light of recent winters, but still many old folks had to choose between heating and eating. It all points to a fuel poverty crisis which will, once again, leave far too many struggling to live well.

“We would like to thank the chairman of Huddersfield Giants Ken Day for again supporting our appeal this year.

“Thanks to his generosity we hope to reach many more people and encourage them to make donations.”
