Call for Leeds United fans to honour young dad who died suddenly

Leeds United fans have asked the club to honour a fellow supporter who lost his life in Dewsbury.

The man, who has not been named, died after being found with serious injuries in the Thornhill area of the town on Friday night. Police are treating the incident as suspicious and have arrested a 19-year-old man.

According to a Facebook post by fellow Whites supporter Jamie Simpson, the 32-year-old victim was the father of a four-year-old boy.

His girlfriend and friends are now asking the club to allow a minute's silence in the 32nd minute of the team's upcoming match against Sheffield Wednesday.

The post reads:

"You may or may not have heard about what happened in Dewsbury last night. But a fellow Leeds fan tragically lost his life. He left behind a four-year-old boy who was also a Leeds fan. I'd appreciate it so much if you can all spread the word and try and get this (minute's applause) to happen. Share this. Get the word out there. We all know Leeds United are one big family and we come together when we lose one of our own. MOT."
