The Burgess brothers have made history by becoming the first trio of brothers to be chosen for the England rugby league side for their World Cup-opening match against Australia.

Sam, 24, and 21-year-old twins Tom and George were named in England’s 19-man team to take on the Kangaroos.

Forwards Sam and George were chosen to start the opening game, with Tom selected on the bench.

The trio began their rugby league careers at Dewsbury Moor RLFC.

They are now international stars, plying their trade at the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Australia’s NRL.

Sam, who broke into the Bradford Bulls squad before switching to Sydney, is being tipped as one of England’s biggest hopes of bringing success at the World Cup.
