Breaking news: Today’s rail strike called off

A TRAIN drivers’ strike due to take place today (Friday) has been called off.

Unions ASLEF and RMT have postponed a 24-hour walkout and will now resume talks with rail operator First TransPennine Express (FTPE).

The strike had been called in a row over pay and would have affected FTPE services on the York to Manchester line among others.

A normal timetable is expected to be in operation today.
