Breaking news: Indecent images man released from jail after appeal

A MAN jailed for possessing nearly 14,000 indecent images of children has been released after successfully appealing against his sentence.

Stephen Curtis Brooke, a former chairman of Mirfield Tennis Club, was jailed for 18 weeks by Dewsbury magistrates on Wednesday July 13.

He had admitted downloading 13,624 images. Police rate the seriousness of the images on a scale of one to five, with five being the most graphic. Brooke had images of all categories – most were level one, but eight were level five.

But today, 57-year-old Brooke, of Priory Way, Mirfield, won an appeal at Leeds Crown Court and was re-sentenced.

He must now complete a three year supervised community order with 250 hours unpaid work and a sexual offences activity programme.

He will still be subject to a seven year sexual offences prevention order and must sign the sex offenders’ register for seven years. His computer and other equipment used to store the indecent images will be destroyed.
