Breaking news: ‘Armed robbery’ at Birkenshaw pub

Police were called to The George IV pub, in Bradford Road, at around 2.05pm after reports that a 49-year-old woman had been assaulted by a man wielding a handgun.

Police are currently investigating the incident and are trying to confirm whether anything was taken.

Reports locally suggest that the woman was carrying out maintenance on a fruit machine when she was assaulted, however this has not been confirmed by police sources.
