Bomb squad called out to Ravensthorpe property

Bomb disposal experts were called out to a property in Ravensthorpe last night after police attended a break-in.

Officers attended an address on Cravendale Road just after 7pm yesterday evening and searched the house, before finding a number of suspicious items.

Members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team were called out and the items were declared safe.

Following the incident, a 40 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and possession of a firearm.

Detective Inspector Mark Truelove, of Kirklees CID, said: “Officers were called to an address in Cravendale Road, Dewsbury, at 7.05pm on Monday, 13 April, following a report of a theft from a vehicle. While making enquiries at the location it was also found that a property had been broken in to.

“The property was searched and a number of items were found inside which required further investigation. A scene guard was put in place and Explosive Ordnance Disposal attended at the scene as part of police enquiries. A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and possession of a firearm.”
