Bells return to Minster after years in storage

Handbellls rang out again at Dewsbury Minster after they were restored.

A new group of the Dewsbury Handbell Team played the instruments at the town Minster’ Carol Service on December 20.

Town Crier Laurie Gilbert also joined the players in sounding the bells, some of the whichhad been in storage for more than 50 years and had deteriorated.

Made by Shaw’s of Bradford in 1890, the bells were restored by John Hollings of Battle in Kent.
