Bedroom fire in Ravensthorpe

Firefighters rushed to a home in Spen Valley Road in the Ravensthorpe area at 6.10pm.

The blaze totally destroyed one upstairs bedroom, but everyone in the house got out safely.

The residents were alerted to the fire by the smell of smoke.

Even though the residents had an alarm, staff from Dewsbury’s fire station are now fitting smoke alarms in the area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
