Batley screenwriter rubs shoulders with Blake Lively and Jason Clarke

RISING STAR Former Batley Grammar pupil Sean Conway is building his reputation in Tinseltown.

And former Healey Lane lad Sean Conway’s first major feature film All I See Is You will be filmed this summer.

It stars A-listers Blake Lively and Jason Clarke and is going to be directed by Sean’s co-writer, friend and man behind Bond movie Quantum of Solace, Marc Forster.

Sean, 35, said the film is a drama about a blind woman (Lively) who regains her sight, which creates a disturbing shift in the relationship with her partner (Clarke).

“It’s been a couple of years in incubation,” said Sean. “I met Marc a couple of years ago ago when I first got myself an agent out in LA.

“We really hit it off, we’ve got similar tastes and sensibilities. He had an embryo of a movie and he wanted a co-writer.

“The script itself is very, very simple because the visual style is going to be like nothing that’s been used in a movie.

“Hopefully it’s going to be the start of quite a few projects (with Marc).

“Blake and Jason just really digged the script and are both talented people. She’s got the tool kit to be a big Hollywood leading lady.”

Sean has been scouting locations in Thailand, where the movie is due to be shot, but had to rush back because his wife Zoe gave birth to their first child Romy last Friday.

“My first big movie and first child – so it’s been a good year so far!”

He now lives in Barkisland, but went to Batley Grammar before moving away to Manchester for university – and was kicked off two courses.

“I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to be or do. I loved writing but didn’t think it was something you could actually do,” he explains.

Sean eventually buckled down on a media production course at Northumbria University, and went on to write critically-acclaimed Sky Atlantic series Hit and Miss.

Next Sean hopes to direct a film about his beloved rugby – he is a life-long Batley Bulldogs fan – which he envisions as a cross between This Sporting Life and Blue Valentine.
