Batley man arrested over Tingley hit and run

A 51-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the hit and run incident which left a teenager critically injured on Good Friday.

The man, from the Batley area, was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

He has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The 17-year-old was hit on Dewsbury Road, Tingley, at about 12.15am on Friday, March 29.

He was seriously injured in the incident but has now been described as being in a stable condition in Leeds General Infirmary.

Police have continued to appeal for witnesses and are asking people with information to conact them on 0113 2413730.
