Working Chimp Productions, the organisers behind Oakwell Music Festival and Cleckheaton Beer Festival, will hold the event at Batley town hall in the Market Place on August 6 and 7.

Event director Paul Fisher said: “It’s great to plan events like these in our local areas.

“People talk to us about their genuine affection for real ale and live music and to know that we can generate all this from local suppliers and musicians is fantastic and great to boost the local economy.

“We have so many bands apply to play we just wish we could accommodate them all.”

The festival will have a varied selection of craft ales and ciders to suit the different tastes of novices and experts.

Prosecco will be available and organisers are also due to run a vodka bar.

Artists such as singer-songwriter Loz Campbell, acoustic folk pop duo The Last Minute, four-piece rockers Goodnight Dakota and gospel blues act Scott Wainwright will take to the stage during the event.

Tickets for the event are £5, which includes a first drink and complimentary beer festival glass.

Punters will be able to buy tokens for more beer inside the venue.

After bagging the Hoosiers to play the first Oakwell Music Festival, Working Chimp Productions raised its game with an appearance by The Feeling at last year’s event.

The team’s Cleckheaton beer festival will run from September 3 at Spenborough Town Hall.

The Batley festival next month opens at noon on the Saturday and Sunday, ending late at night following a packed line up of bands.
