Assault in Cleckheaton

Police are on the hunt for the attackers of a man who was hospitalised after a serious assault in Cleckheaton.

The incident took place on Bradford Road between 2.30am-2.40am on January 19 when a 42-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were approached by two men in a small white van outside the Akaash restaurant in Bradford Road.

One of the men in the van began to argue with the 46-year-old before getting out and assaulting him. The woman was also punched and knocked to the ground when she tried to intervene.

The man was left seriously injured and required hospital treatment.

The first suspect was described as white, in his mid 20s, 5ft 10 to 6ft tall and slim with short hair wearing dark bottoms and a dark jumper.

The second was white in his mid-20s and stocky, 5ft10 to 6ft tall with short brown hair wearing a blue jumper and blue bottoms.

DC Sally Dale of Dewsbury CID said: “This was a serious incident in which both a man and a woman were assaulted, leaving the man with serious facial injuries which required ongoing hospital treatment.
