Ask for your flu jab now

PEOPLE at risk of complications from flu are being urged to protect themselves and their families.

GPs in the North Kirklees Clinical Commissioning Group are leading the drive to promote free flu jabs for patients in our district.

Dewsbury GP Dr Ajit Mehrota said: “Flu is not just a cold – it can be a really serious illness.

“If you have a health condition like diabetes, have heart complaints or suffer from severe asthma, you need to book an appointment with your GP for a free vaccination. Pregnant woman should also get the flu jab to protect their baby and themselves.

“The flu jab is safe. It cannot give you flu, nor does it contain the ‘live’ flu virus, but it will help protect your health.”

Other at risk groups include people over 65.
