Arrest after car smash in Gomersal

Police indicated for a Ford Modeo to stop in Spen Lane at 2.30pm today before it made off, then smashed into a BMW.

Inspector Philip Ounsley from Kirklees Police said: “At 2.30pm officers indicated for a Ford Mondeo vehicle to stop in the Gomersal area. This car made off and almost immediately collided with another vehicle – a silver BMW – on Spen Lane.

“A 36-year-old man was arrested from the Mondeo on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent. Enquiries are ongoing to trace another man who was seen to flee from the Mondeo.

“A male occupant from the BMW is believed to have sustained a neck injury as a result of the collision.”
