ARMISTICE DAY MEMORIES: Christmas card from 1918 sent by Batley soldier

A reader has sent us fascinating pictures of her family as the country marks Armistice Day.

Julie Cuthbert emailed us pictures of both her father Leonard Cuthbert and grandfather John Cuthbert.

Leonard fought in World War Two, while John fought in World War One.

Julie also sent a picture of a Christmas card dated December 1918 that John sent. He served with the 21st Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment,

Julie said: “My grandad John was a postman from Batley and fought in World War One.

“My dad Leonard fought in World War Two and was a painter and decorator from Birstall. He passed away in 1985.”
