Apply for a share of £5k group fund

The charitable arm of a healthcare provider is offering grants community groups across the district.

Groups with a health, environmental or community interest can apply for a share from Locala’s £5,000 Community Fund.

Locala, which provides community healthcare across North Kirklees, is offering grants of between £100 and £1,000 to help fund projects.

Chairman Mark Sanders said: “We want to invest in your community because it’s our community too.

“Small groups like these make a fantastic contribution to community life.

“Sometimes they just need a little financial support to keep going or to make the most of their existing facilities.

“Over the last few years the Locala Community Fund has supported some inspiring projects and we’re looking forward to receiving the next round of applications.”

Since it was formed four years ago, the fund has dished out more than £35,000 worth of grants.

Cash has been awarded to groups for projects ranging from food banks to allotment schemes and scouting groups.

Applications for grants are taken twice-a-year.

And the closing date for the latest round of applications is Monday, February 22.

Grant applications will be accepted from local, non-profit or voluntary organisations.
