Appeal renewed after death of two Dewsbury men

Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the M62 earlier this month.

The incident happened on Monday 2 April at around 2:34am at the top of the westbound exit slip road at junction 26 of the M62.

34-year-old Adam Afsar and 27-year-old Jason Wilby, both from the Thornhill Lees area of Dewsbury were travelling in a white Skoda Octavia when a collision occurred with a black Vauxhall Insignia.

The black vehicle was travelling the wrong way down the motorway slip road.

Both men died as a result of their injuries.

The Major Collision Enquiry team, who are leading the investigation, are appealing for anyone in the area of junction 26 on or around the time of the collision, who may have seen either of the vehicles prior to the collision and in particular, anyone who has any dash cam footage, to come forward to the police.

Officers are also keen to speak to drivers of any heavy goods vehicles who may have been travelling on this stretch of the M62 or any drivers near to the Chainbar roundabout before the slip road.
