Appeal: Cyclist, 82, in serious condition after crash

An 82-year-old cyclist has suffered serious head injuries after a crash in Gomersal.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash in Lower Lane at around 8.30pm last night.

The lone cyclist was heading from Quarry Lane to Upper Lane when he appears to have fallen from his bike onto the road surface.

PC Richard Wilson, from the Western Area Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Team, said: “The cyclist was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with head injuries. He remains in a serious but stable condition this morning.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Wilson at the Western Area Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Unit via 101 and quoting crime reference number 13150239289.
