The signs at the junction of these Ravensthorpe roads couldn’t be much clearer – but it hasn’t stopped drivers breaking the law.

Now resident Les Robertson has challenged the council and police to take action against those who ignore the no entry signs.

Mr Robertson, 54, of Garden Street, said: “It happens all throughout the day. Even taxi drivers are doing it.”

The changes to the road system were meant to stop people turning into Garden Street from Myrtle Road.

A council spokesman said: “There was concern about parents parking at the junction and also a history of complaints about people using Garden Street as a short-cut to North Road and, in doing, so putting [Ravensthorpe Junior] pupils at risk.”

Temporary signs were replaced with permanent signs last week.

Mr Robertson said: “They’ve spent all that money and they can’t enforce anything.”

The council said a follow-up survey was being done.
