A festive wedding - but Afghanistan beckons for groom Ashley
Soldier Ashley Maloney and his bride-to-be Rebecca Perks, from Westroyd Avenue will celebrate their wedding in style this weekend, as they will be flanked by a guard of honour by fellow troops from Ashley’s regiment, the Coldstream Guards.
But just weeks after Saturday’s ceremony at St Mary’s Church, Ashley will put his life on the line when he leaves to serve in Afghanistan.

“I’m not really nervous about the wedding – I’m just really looking forward to it more than anything.”
The wedding has been a long time coming for Ashley and Rebecca, 21. Then two first met when they were students at Castle Hall School and soon became friends.
The two then worked behind the bar together at the Old Colonial pub where love soon blossomed. They have been together for three years.
