The local Area Committee activity budget will be cut from £291,000 to zero. £1.4m less will be spent on routine road repairs and attended public toilets in Dewsbury, Huddersfield and Holmfirth are at risk of closure.

School crossing patrols in 10 “low risk” areas will also stop. The precise locations are not yet known. “Modest” price increases are being proposed for pay and play at Kirklees Active Leisure sites.

A total cut of £4,352m in budget of £94,421m is proposed in Adult Services, including £1,072m in residential and nursing services and £1.5m in “demand-led” services including supported living, care phones and emergency support.

One proposal to raise cash includes bringing in charges for residential parking permits - 9,000 people from across the district would have to pay a suggested admin charge of £30 to park outside their homes. Currently, 25 per cent of permits are issued to North Kirklees residents.

The proposals will be debated by Cabinet on Tuesday before going out to public consultation. The final budget will be set in February.
