When the going gets tough, the tough get mucky

Danny Tasker, Martin Elliott, Ross Harding, Kim Smith, Luke Lumbis and Emma Healy, who work at the residential letting specialists Linley and Simpson, completed Tough Mudder - a gruelling 12-mile, 25-obstacle course at Broughton Hall, near Skipton.

In doing so, they helped the firm march on towards the £20,000 it has pledged to raise for Martin House Children’s Hospice, near Boston Spa, as its chosen charity of the year.

Their efforts netted more than £1,700 towards the cause – smashing their target of £1,500.

Tough Mudder has been specially designed by the Special Forces to test all-round strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie.

To succeed the team had to overcome freezing cold ice baths, electroshock therapy and running a mile in ankle-deep mud – a far cry from their day job working in the network of Linley and Simpson offices in Leeds city centre, Horsforth, Roundhay, Harrogate, Wetherby, Ripon, Ilkley, York and Wakefield.

Linley and Simpson marketing manager Danny Tasker said: “ The weekend was a far cry from the comforts of the home and the office but pushed all of to our limits and beyond.

“It was not for the faint hearted but we all worked as a team to complete the course, despite the challenges that were placed in front of us.”

Martin House Hospice, at Boston Spa, supports children with life-limiting illnesses and their families from across North and West Yorkshire.
