Heckmondwike Grammar School has donated hundreds of protective eye goggles to help protect NHS staff in the fight against coronavirus (Covid-19)..

Teachers at the 1500-pupil school on High Street, Heckmondwike, responded to calls from frontline workers for additional personal protective equipment to ensure the safety of those helping the efforts to tackle the disease across Kirklees 450 pairs, the school’s entire stock of goggles, have been given to the Princess Royal Health Centre in Huddersfield.

Headteacher Peter Roberts said: “We use eye goggles to protect our pupils in science and technology lessons, but with the school currently closed and the unprecedented demands on the health service, it is only right that we donate every pair we have to the fight against coronavirus.
