Former MP Paula Sherriff vows to fight after revealing breast cancer diagnosis

Writing on Twitter Ms Sherriff, who was the Labour MP for Dewsbury until December, confirmed the diagnosis following the discovery of a lump.

She said: “My treatment plan will be determined after a few more tests. Yes I’m scared but I’m gonna kick cancer’s arse!”

She urged others to check their breasts and go to their GP with any concerns.

Her post prompted an outpouring of support.

Hull North MP Dame Diana Johnson sent her best wishes and Henri Murison, Director of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership, said: “Know you will stand up and beat it like you have always done in every challenge you have faced.”
