Ten clinics will take place at Dewsbury Dental Centre for people with severe dental pain and no other access to treatment. Prospective patients will have to phone the practice and undergo screening to assess their needs.

Staff will be prioritising those in greatest need and a limited number of appointments will be available. The clinics will take place on two Thursday evenings a month between 6pm and 9pm and only those with a pre-booked appointment will be seen.

Dental charity Dentaid has been a regular visitor to Dewsbury since 2015 and volunteers have helped thousands of people out of dental pain at mobile dental clinics.

Although coronavirus restrictions have hampered the charity’s work, preventing clinics taking place on its mobile dental unit, Dentaid volunteer Nick O’ Donovan has agreed to open his practice on Halifax Road to help people living with the worst dental pain.

Dentaid CEO Andy Evans. “Thanks to Nick and his amazing team we will be able to help those whose lives are being most severely affected by dental problems. We expect these clinics will be very busy so please only try to book an appointment if you need emergency treatment and haven’t been able to see a dentist elsewhere.”
