About Old Bank Academy

The school prides itself on having a friendly atmosphere, and building strong links with the community, which enables its pupils to thrive and reach their potential in all aspects of their life.

It is passionate about improving the life chances of young children in our school community and children are encouraged to develop themselves as fully rounded, emotionally intelligent individuals.

Working in partnership with parents or carers they involve the child’s whole family – as the more parents or carers are engaged in their child’s learning, the more the child can achieve.

The school sets out its vision as ensuring that learning is engaging, active and fun. It wants children to love school, be happy and healthy. Central to the vision are the following key drivers, which underpin the curriculum, behaviours and expectations.

- Wider opportunities – We strive to give children as many opportunities as possible. This is because children’s personal development is crucial to becoming a happy learner. Whilst at Old Bank, children have an entitlement to participate in drama, music, art, sport and outdoor educational activities.

- Knowledge and skills – Developing language and providing knowledge in order to apply in a range of skills in different contexts is fundamental to our curriculum. We want children to have knowledge and skills that can be used to support their community and beyond.

- Grow Values – At Old Bank our GROW values underpin everything we do, the values are Growth, Respect, Opportunity and Wellbeing. Our aim is for every child to grow and thrive to be the best they can be, we want our academy to be a place ‘Where Every Pupil Grows.’

- High aspirations – Raising aspirations and aiming to be the very best that we can be. Challenging ourselves to dream, believe and achieve across a wide range of activities, we value what we measure.

Our Aims

- To ensure that the achievement, personal development, and well-being of children is the primary concern of all.

- To create outstanding learning and teaching which engages pupils, is active, collaborative and encourages independence.

- To foster pupil voice which involves children in the development and delivery of their own education and the life of their academy.

- To construct a curriculum which meets the needs of all learners, is engaging and fun

- To develop professional networks which provide opportunities for pupils.

- To understand and promote community cohesion within the curriculum and wider opportunities available to children and families.

Early years and nursery

Being part of Impact Education Multi Academy Trust, we have a deep commitment and understanding of a broad, balanced play-based learning approach in our early years provision.

During their time in the Early Years setting, we want our children to become confident, independent, and active learners who are physically and emotionally healthy.

We believe each child is unique and learns best when they have secure, positive, and responsive relationships with adults and peers.

Our learning environment promotes quality interactions, ignites curiosity and motivation for learning and exposes children to use their independent learning and investigative skills.

Children can start the nursery in September, January or April.

The nursery offers the 15-hours free childcare, Mon- Fri morning 8.50-11/50, with a snack provided for all children.

Hours and days can vary but where places are available, children can attend a full day session from 8.50am until 3.20pm. Funded hours can be used for the morning session (8.50am-11.50am) and the afternoon session (12.20pm-3.20pm).
