Ravenshall School received the funding Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire’s Community Champions scheme, which seeks to support groups, charities and organisations from across the region.

The donation will fund specialist cooking equipment enabling more pupils to safely engage in the subject. Much of its cookery budget is spent on providing ingredients for its pupils, leaving very little to maintain culinary equipment.

Felicity Farrar-Smith, food technology teacher at Ravenshall School, said: “We work tirelessly to ensure all pupils can experience and learn how to cook.

“The Persimmon Homes’ donation will allow us to purchase specialist equipment such as: talking scales, non-slip chopping boards, measuring scoops, specialist graters and suction bowls.

“These items will also enable us to introduce many more exciting recipes to the pupils.”
