Dewsbury school awarded £2,000 as part of national wellbeing project
A school in Dewsbury has won a share of Howden’s national Pupils’ Wellbeing Prize.
Ravenshall School has been awarded £2,000 by the global insurance intermediary’s annual scheme which funds student-led initiatives designed to improve mental health and wellbeing within their school communities.

The school, on Ravensthorpe Road, has received funding to bring their winning wellbeing project to life, with Howden representatives visiting the school last week to celebrate their achievements with a cheque presentation.
The Pupils’ Wellbeing Prize was launched by Howden’s specialist education division in 2025, inviting schools across the UK to submit ideas developed by pupils that would have a positive and lasting impact on wellbeing.
Ravenshall School will maximise its win of £2,000 by focusing on the development of the school’s community petting farm and wellbeing spaces, creating an environment that supports pupils across the school.
Rik Robinson, headteacher at Ravenshall, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Howden for their generous donation of £2,000 towards our petting farm project. This support will help us create a wonderful, hands-on experience for our children, giving them opportunities to connect with animals, develop empathy, and nurture their confidence and wellbeing.
“For many of our pupils, these experiences can be truly life-changing, and we are so thankful to Howdens for helping us bring this special project to life.”
With more than six decades of experience supporting the education sector, Howden's education division provides specialist insurance, risk management and wellbeing services to schools, colleges, universities and other education providers across the UK.

Jo Taylor, executive director of education at Howden, added: “We believe that mental health and wellbeing should be at the heart of every school community.
“Our education division is proud to support more than one million young people through tailored wellbeing services, and we were thrilled to launch the Pupils’ Wellbeing Prize competition to give schools the chance to access funding that directly supports their pupils’ mental health.
“The response was truly humbling. Schools shared powerful stories and inspiring ideas, and it’s been an honour to help bring some of those visions to life.
“We’re excited to launch the competition for a third time in 2027 and continue championing mental health and wellbeing across the wider education community.”
Howden also offers 24/7 wellbeing support services for staff, parents and young people, including counselling, guidance and access to clinical mental health support.
