Dewsbury community leader gives kids egg-cellent Easter surprise

A Dewsbury community leader lifted spirits during the Bank Holiday weekend after giving away free Easter eggs.

Tanisha Bramwell, who is also the independent candidate for Dewsbury West, visited communities around the Moorend area to give children and parents a much needed lift.

Ms Bramwell, along with a team from Bramwell Sports Development Team, were motivated to help the children of the Moorend community which may be confused during coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis.

She said: "On top of delivering care packages, Bramwell Sports team and Take Ten drove through our local community to spread some cheer and handed out free Easter eggs to all children.

"The kids, they're locked inside. It’s very hard for them too, and a lot of children know something's going on but don’t understand exactly what.

"They are just doing as they're told.

"They deserved some happiness even for 30 minutes."

Ms Bramwell and her team kept within social distancing rules to provide the Moorend community with the egg-shaped chocolate surprises.

Ms Bramwell's team filmed the project on the new app Tik Tok and shared it across social media.

"To see a new face and have a dance and get a free egg on good Friday," said Ms Bramwell.

"My aim when I came up with the idea was to spread some joy, and happiness during these difficult times.

"I want my locals to understand we’re a community, we can and we will get through this together."
